How to pronounce would, could and should

Posted On Feb 02, 2022 |

Are you pronouncing these words correctly?

After working with speakers of English as a second and foreign language for almost 10 years, I've noticed that these three little words cause major confusion when it comes to pronunciation. And that's because, in English, sounds and spelling do not always correspond.

In this American English pronunciation video, we're going to practice pronouncing the words would, could and should. And don't be surprised to find out that they sound nothing like you imagined! Like I said before, English spelling is challenging because it doesn't always correspond to the way words are written.

After watching the video, make sure to practice saying these words on a daily basis. Remember daily repetition is the only way to effectively create muscle memory and make new sounds permanent and automatic.
